Alright, so here's the deal.
In the past two weeks or so it's become apparent to me that simming is beginning to become more like work than a fun past time for me. It's at the point where it's been annoying and I've been dreading it and looking for any way to get out of doing it. Couple that with the fact that I have less time now than I did before to actually do it, and I'll be starting work soon, I'm not sure how long I'd be able to keep up the same style/simming schedule without getting completely burned out.
I have two alternatives that we can look into, I will explain them both in detail below. Please read both before you decide, thank you.
Shorter Sim Periods
-Sim periods would decrease to 3 days per sim, monday through friday with the weekends serving as makeup days depending on my schedule.
-There would be a minimum of 3 days simmed, with the option for more depending ont he in-game swchedule. For example, if one of the 3 days that gets simmed only has 1-5 games, I'd sim an extra day. Shorter days wouldn't count towards the 3 days simmed, as it's kinda not fair and we'd take forever. Same goes for in-game breaks (Christmas break, all-star game and it's break, etc), they'd be skipped as part of the 3 day sim.
-The pros to this solution is that I spend much less time doing the actual sim, and it becomes more accessible to someone if I ever need to get somebody else to sim for a day if anything happens.
-The downside to this is that even though it is a smaller sim size, it still risks the chance of me blowing out. Also, some GMs weren't happy with the 5-day sim size as it is, so I can see 3 days being a big deal to some of you.
Transition to File League
-A file league basically involves you getting the actual league file and doing your lines there, savingt them and emailing it to me. That way, I can easily load them without having to do them manually, and you can even do your farm lines if you wish.
-This would obviously, require taht you have EHM on your computer and know how to use it. I would provide a tutorial with pictures on how to do this so it will be as easy as possible. Roster links and such will remain up as well, so it's easier to make trades and see how your team is doing without having to boot the program up all the time.
-Sim schedule would remain the same because by doing lines this way, I more than cut in half the pre-sim preparation period. One of the biggest annoyances with simming is doing lines, especially if there are alot, and dealing with injuries to farm teams. If you have the file, you can do full lines for both,a s well as see who is injured directly in front of you, meaning less mistakes as well.
-Ceilings would be masked, meaning you won't be able to cheat and see how your players are going to turn out by using the players file/player scout or by simming ahead to see how they develop.
-Pros for this change would be how much quicker it makes everything for me, and the accessibility of everything in the file to you so that you know exactly what is going on with your training, lines, injuries, prospects, CSB, etc. You can see full stats for every team around the league, including junior teams, and more.
-Cons are, obviously, needing EHM and knowing how to use it. As I said, I will make a tutorial and answer any questions to the best of my ability and I know there are definitely some of us here who know EHM well who can help as well.
-I'd prefer this method, as it makes it much easier on me while keeping our simming schedule the same as before.
Close the League/I Won't Return if We Change the Format
-If you feel like we've run our course and that the change isn't going to help, then feel free to select this option. I'd hate to have to close it but if enough people are not willing to make the jump, then theres a good chance that eventually I'd quit anyways if we keep going this way.
-Post in the thread to let me know if you actually want to close or you won't return for the new format. I'd really like everyone to at least give it at try before deciding but I can't force you to do anything. It's completely up to you and given how big of a change this might be, I completely understand if you decide that you do not want to stick around.
Please vote after reading, as soon as possible, as I'd like to get this figured out, as well as the future of the league. Any questions, concerns or comments, feel free to post them and I'll help you out.
