The Edmonton Oilers are looking forward for the season to start, they have easily the best young talent in the NHL which includes Hall,Eberle,Nugent-Hopkins,Schultz,Yakupov, and Gagner. The team is a powerhouse out front but the backend isn't looking to good. GM Colton knows he needs to fix up the backend for the team to be a contender. "We are a great team up front but we need good quality D and a young top goalie" said GM Colton.
The Oilers D needs still continues since they picked Yakupov first overall in the past draft. "Most people said we need defense but my strategy is like most GM's which is to take the best player available". Colton admits his defense is really soft but says their are going to be changes on the back end. "I'm not going to lie, I am in trade talks with other teams to toughen up the back end" noted GM Colton.
We will have to wait and see if changes are made before the season starts but most fans think the Oilers will pull the trigger for a defenseman. They already pulled the trigger once notching top prospect Charlie Coyle from the Minnesota Wild by sending David Musil and a third round pick back in return.
(The newest addition to Edmonton,Charlie Coyle)
"He's a great young who is very talented and will be in our top 6 for years to come" said GM Colton. Coyle is a top rated prospect and should find his way in the Oilers top 6 very soon. "i was shocked to hear it but excited at the same time, the Oilers are a great team up front and i'm looking forward to playing with their top stars hopefully soon" said Coyle.
The Oilers are now set up front in their franchise with Coyle,Eberle,Yakupov,Hall,Gagner,Nugent-Hopkins as their top 6 going into the season."Coyle is going to be given a chance to perform and hopefully he contributes said GM Colton. The Oilers will be looking to improve their weak link defense but time will only tell what the team will look like going into the regular season.
