New Capitals GM Kevin Bobbyluo at his opening day press conference
The Ducks have made a shocking move and have moved Bob Murray from the GM position to Senior Advisor for the New GM. They have hired Kevin Bobbyluo as his replacement as the GM and the new Team President. Kevin was the GM of the Washington Capitals in HASL and lead the Capitals to the cup finals in year one, ultimately losing in 7 games. He is described as calculated but not afraid to make the big move. The teams in the past that he has built, have all been young, big and fast. Most of those players can hit and are not willing to sacrific their bodies to make the block. Kevin tends to have a team that is able to role four lines and he will rely on his top 4 defenders to do most of the work, not uncommon by anyone's standards. The 26 year old is still relatively new to the hockey world and unknown in the tougher PTPHL league.
GM Kevin said the following at his Press Conference :
Kevin: 'I relish the oppurtunity to take over the Anahiem Ducks. I look forward to the higher competitive level and nature that this league has to offer. The team has a decent core and is looking to contend soon. There is a good core group of prospects, which is an excellent element of the team. The team has their pair of superstars in Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry who are tasked with carrying the team. Add in a supporting cast of Bobby Ryan, Teemu Selanne and goalie Jonas Hiller and you have something too build of. The team has a bunch of holes to fix, however, and I will be doing my best to have them filled by the start of the season. The biggest hole will be to fix the mediocre defense, of course.'
Kevin seems to be off to a good start by mentioning the Ducks hole of defensive issues. Cam Fowler had a bit of a sophmore slump and appears to be the only offensive defenseman on the team. Expect several changes on the blue line as well. Adding a few top 6 wingers appears to be next on the agenda as well as acquiring a number two center behind Getzlaf.
Rumour Mill
Kyle Palmieri and Emerson Etem, two highly touted prospects appear to be on their way out appear to be on their way out of Anahiem. Hampus Lindholm has been a named that has tossed around according to sources. Targets that GM Kevin has been looking for includes Alex Edler, Shea Weber, Ryan Suter and Dustin Byfuglien. Many rumours swirl, we shall see what happens.
