Another season is upon Us and We are going to take a look at some off the off-season moves that hapened with the Stars. The bigggest move was the acquisition of 22 year old Center Ryan O'Reilly from the Colorado Avalanche. The Stars traded Their 1st && 2nd round picks along with Center/LW Andrew Cogliano. " Cogs" could never find His footing here at all last year and at times, seemed very lost. ROR is a great 2 way Center and is signed to an awesome contract for the next 4 seasons.
Next was the UFA signing of Chris Neil from Ottawa. Neil will provide alot of grit and toughness to the line-up. He should be a terror along the glass and is one of the best forecheckers in the league. Another Winger that can Hit & Grind is Jim O'Brien, Who was acquired in a trade with Ottawa for Tomas Vincour. O'Brien doesn't have much skill on the offensive end of the Ice, but His Checking and Defense will make up for His lack of point production.
Part II will continue tomorrow.

Part II of the off-season moves contiunes with trading for Shane O'Brien from Colorado, for such a pick. Shane brings a nasty streak to the Stars defense that the team really needed, as it was noted a few times last season by other teams that They played a little too soft on the backend after many a game. Curtis Glencross was another need that Dallas had. He's a solid 2 way Center that can put the puck in the net a little bit. You can put Curtis out in a bunch of different situations and You will know that You will get His best at all times. Dallas 1st round pick Anton Cederholm was a pleasant surprise that He was still there at #20 when the Stars came up to make Their selection. As the Stars only pick of the 5 round draft, the Stars are really hoping that He can step up to the plate and deliver as early as next season.

Alot of so-called experts are predicting another season out of the playoff picture for the Stars. They may or may not be correct, but I think that Dallas will be better then last season's club. The team's biggest weaknees is on Defense as Matt Carle and Trevor Daley are the top pairing for the Stars. After those Two, it's pretty much a crap shoot. It's mostly a grouping that is made for keeping the puck out of the Net, then putting up points on the backend for the Stars. The Goaltending is solid with Henrik Lundqvist & Richard Bachman manning the Nets. Lundqvist is in the final year of His deal and it's important for the Stars to get out to a quick start, so trade Rumors don't start popping up about Lundqvist getting moved and distrubing the teams chemistry.
The offense will automatically be better with Ryan O'Reilly & Curtis Glencross being here this season and with T.J. Oshie being here for the full season as well. The Stars will still struggle a bit to score, but the team will be definitely harder to play against. This team has grit and alot of it, with Tanner Glass, Eric Nystrom, Adam Hall being joined by Chris Neil & Jim O'Brien from off-season signing or trades. It's going to be a very interesting year in Dallas, but They will struggle to make the top 8 in the West.

Rumors coming out of Dallas is that the Stars in the right deal, could part with T.J.Oshie & Trevor Daley. Apparently, Oshie is being quietly shopped around the league and the Stars are said to be looking for a Young top 4 Defenseman to grow with the team. There have been alot of inquiries about Daley, almost 7 in all. Daley is a pretty popular player around the league right now, as He's signed to a nice affordable 4 year deal and alot of teams are currently Cap strapped this early in the season. Back to Oshie: if Oshie does get moved, this would mean that one of Two things could happen. Jannick Hansen would find His way back into the line-up, or Young Foward Radek Faska could be called up and Marcus Johnasson could be moved over to the Left side. As things look now, Johnasson is save in Dallas.
The other big possible rumor is the situation surrounding Henrik Lundqvist. Henry is in the last year of His deal and is still only 31 years old and still in the prime of His career. From what I'm hearing, the Dallas management is going through a series of different trade scenarios on what They might want back if They don't feel that They can re-sign Lundy. I do know that Lundqvist would/could bring back a " King's Ransom" if He did get dealt.
