Canadiens Look To Future After Early Playoff Exit
The Montreal Canadiens tried to focus on the positive on Saturday after a roller-coaster season that saw the team finish seventh in the Eastern Conference, then quickly bow out in the playoffs.
Despite getting knocked out by the Carolina Hurricans in six games, and they gave everything they had. Habs players said there is much to build on for next year with a strong core group and the emergence of youngsters like Alex Galchenyuk, Brendan Gallagher, Adam Erne, and most probably Sebastien Collberg. This Habs team looks promising, and will become a contender for years to come. Habs General Manager decided that he will build his team within the organization "We have a good solid core that we can build around and the Montreal Canadiens will return to it's former identity they had for decades where they were dominating the NHL. With that being said, we do intent to bolster our roster and there's some issues that need to be addressed." Gm Peter Rothos commentated when asked about the future.
There's the NHL Entry Draft and the NHL UFA that's just around the corner and Habs Gm Peter will be extremely busy trying to involve his team whether trading the 1st pick (16tth) or via free agency. The following players were told that the team weren't going to offer them a contract as they don't fit in the teams plans. Those players are: Goaltender Olivier Roy, Forwards Andrew Shaw and Colby Armstrong and Defenseman Corey Potter won't be back next season. " We would like to thank those players that weren't offered a contract the best of luck in the future, and we would like to thank them for their dedication and services for the Organization" Gm Peter said during his press conference.
