Keep in mind, Seabrook is (as far as I know) the best defenseman overall in the file, even though he didn't start out that way. When you take that into account, it's not that bad. Also, looking at his team, there's definitely a need for a top defenseman over forwards, so that also factors in.

Who are the trade committee around here? They should be fired for letting these deals go through. Me, JIM, Commish and E'day. I'll gladly go over why I passed certain trades if you let me know which. Also you need to understand that TC only stops brutal trades, that can ruin a team and also if its an experienced GM making a "bad" deal we are more lenient because most of the guys here that have been around know what they are doing.

Ok Chicago....please explain how this one turns out to be "fair ". Leafs give up their 2 best FA guys period and their first for a retiring Selanne and a 2nd ....lol

a) I thought commish was going to combine with the 2nd trade, but I guess not b) I'm with you that its a bad trade, but a bad trade, doesn't mean it will specifically be denied. Basically it comes down to Toronto's first + Bozak for Selanne + 2nd. There are other pieces involved but they are not significant in my opinion to throw the trade in either direction. So going back to Bozak + first for Selanne + 2nd. Toronto wanted a sniper and he got one. Bozak might be younger and a better player overall, but Teemu is the better player offensively. Bozak is a 2nd liner, while Selanne could fill in as a top line winger. I think Toronto has enough talent (note this was reasoning was BEFORE the 2nd trade), to not be a lottery team next year, especially with a full-time commited GM, so the first to 2nd downgrade isn't catastrophic. And yes I know he is retiring, but if the Leafs GM is trying to make a run, then Teemu will help, if the GM feels he needs a sniper
So to summarize, its not a good deal for Toronto, but its not one I feel is worthy to reject. Again, TC isn't meant to make every trade "fair", its more "is this bad enough that we have to reject it, so it doesn't ruin a team". However, if you combine it with the other deal, then that's a different story.

how dos it not ruin the Leafs? They just lost BOTH of their top FA guys.....and their first for a guy that will play for a cpl of months.....and with the team that the Leafs have now(not including the rape of the other trade) they wont go far in playoffs IF they make it there

And now this just totally changed my outlook on trying to make trades......i try and look for "fair trades" but now i will look for......"it SHOULD be passable" ones
